The Caribbean spans multiple time zones, primarily ranging from UTC-4 to UTC-5. Most islands observe Atlantic Standard Time (UTC-4) year-round without Daylight Saving Time. The Caribbean does not have a single unified time zone. Depending on which island or region you are visiting, you will fall into one of the following time zones:

  • Atlantic Standard Time (AST) - UTC-4

    Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the British Virgin Islands.

  • Eastern Standard Time (EST) / Central Standard Time (CST) - UTC-5

    Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Haiti, and Cuba.

    Jamaica and Cayman Islands does not change between summer time and winter time. EST all year long.


    Haiti observes Daylight Saving Time, so its time shifts between UTC-5 and UTC-4 depending on the time of year (EDT/EST).

    Cuba observes Daylight Saving Time, so its time shifts between UTC-5 and UTC-4 depending on the time of year (CDT/CST).

  • Eastern Standard (EST) and Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) - (UTC-5/-4)
