What is this WebP to JPG tool?
Ever saved a picture and found out it's a .webp file that half your apps refuse to open? This tool fixes that. Give it a WebP and it hands you back a regular JPG that works in pretty much everything: email, slides, social posts, print shops, old photo editors.
How to convert WebP to JPG
When should you convert WebP to JPG?
WebP is great on websites, but it isn't welcome everywhere. Reach for a JPG when you run into one of these:
How to convert multiple images at once
Select a whole folder's worth of WebP files at once (Ctrl or Cmd + A in the file picker), or drag them all onto the drop box together. Each one gets its own row with its own preview and file size.
When they're ready, press Download all and you'll get a single ZIP. Changed your mind about quality? Move the slider and every image updates on the spot.
Why is this tool better than the others?
- Nothing gets uploaded. The conversion runs on your own device, so private photos stay private.
- No waiting around. No upload queue, no progress bar crawling across the screen.
- No limits or nagging. No daily caps, no watermark, no account, no "upgrade" pop-ups.
- You control the result. Pick the quality and the background color, and see the size change live.
- Built for batches. Convert one file or fifty, then grab them all in a single ZIP.
What is the WebP image format?
WebP is an image format Google released in 2010 to make websites lighter. It squeezes photos into much smaller files than older formats, and it can also handle transparency and simple animations, which means one format can do the job of JPG, PNG and GIF. Browsers love it. A lot of other software is still catching up.
What is a JPG?
JPG (also written JPEG) has been the everyday photo format since the early 1990s. It shrinks images by discarding detail your eye is unlikely to miss, which is why it's perfect for photographs. It doesn't support transparency, but it's understood by virtually every device, app and printer on the planet.
| WebP | JPG | |
|---|---|---|
| File size | Usually smaller | Slightly larger |
