Calculator guide

Everything you need to get the most out of the calculator, from basics to keyboard shortcuts.

01

What is an online calculator?

An online calculator is a calculator that runs directly in your browser instead of on a physical device. It works the same way a pocket or desktop calculator does — you enter numbers and operations and it returns a result — but it needs no installation, updates itself automatically, and works on any device with a browser: desktop, tablet, or phone.

This one adds a few conveniences on top of the basics: a live preview of the result while you're still typing, a scientific mode for trigonometry, logarithms, and powers, and a history panel so you never lose a calculation you did earlier in the session.

02

What are the functions on the calculator?

Basic arithmetic

+ − × ÷ with correct operator precedence

Parentheses

( ) to group and control order of operations

Percentages

% turns a number into its hundredth, usable inline

Powers & roots

x², xʸ, √, 1/x

Logarithms

log (base 10) and ln (base e)

Trigonometry

sin, cos, tan plus inverse (Inv) with a DEG / RAD toggle

Constants

π and e

Live preview

see the result while you're still typing

History

tap the clock icon to revisit and reuse past results
